Abstract From the Canadian patent

Modification of polymers of the type including carbon/carbon double bonds is disclosed wherein the polymerisation of at least one monomer of low water solubility within a pre-existing polymer latex yields material containing interlinked polymers. The process includes the steps of (a) taking or making a colloidal dispersion of the polymer in an aqueous medium (b) swelling the , polymer in the colloidal particles with at least one polymerisable monomer having a solubility in water of less than 10-3 molar; and (c) inducing a freeradical polymerisation of the monomer(s) within the swollen colloidal particles of the polymer. The process is particularly appropriate to preparation of …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 23, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 23, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 23, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
