The invention provides methods for efficient and rapid identification of cisacting nucleic acid sequences that act in a cell-type specific manner to stimulate or repress the expression of linked genes or other neighboring sequences. The invention also provides methods for evolving novel regulatory sequences by in vitro manipulation of naturally occurring or synthetic cisacting nucleic acid sequences followed by screening and counterscreening steps. Furthermore, the invention provides methods for determining the mechanism by which cell-type specific cis regulatory sequences confer celltype specific expression. Also provided are diagnostic methods based on the use of cell-type specific …

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 13, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 13, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 13, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
