Abstract From the Canadian patent

A vibration motor includes a stator and a rotor and excitation arrangements for deforming the stator in vibratory modes combining tangential vibrations and normal vibrations intended to drive rotation of the rotor. The rotor (1a and 1b) and the excitation arrangements (7 8) have dimensions such that the normal and tangential modes have similar resonant frequencies or even the same resonant frequency, and correspond substantially to the excitation frequency.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 12, 1999 and granted January 3, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 12, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 12, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
