Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and apparatus of correcting for saturation in a current transformer, which outputs a current measurement, is provided. A switching algorithm receives a value of the current measurement from the current transformer and determines within which of three ranges the value falls. If the value falls in a first range, the current measurement is provided to a protective device such as a relay. If the value falls in a second range, the current measurement is provided to an artificial neural network that produces an output that accounts for saturation of the current transformer. If the value falls in a third range, the current measurement is provided to another artificial neural network that …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 12, 1999 and granted September 3, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 12, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 12, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
