Abstract From the Canadian patent

A carpet yarn is a plurality of fibers spun from a multiconstituent polymer alloy composed of 60 wt.% or more of nylon 6; up to about 37 wt.% of a stereoregular polyolefin having a melt flow index of from about 2 to about 100; and 3 - 37 wt.% of a polyolefin that is at least partially modified by one or more type of polar monomer. Upon steam heatsetting at about 124°C the yarn shrinks less than about 20%.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 12, 1999 and granted October 15, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 12, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 12, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
