Abstract From the Canadian patent

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for improving thermal efficiency and field reliability of a linear power, amplifier of a communicating system. In as illustrative embodiment the , communication system operates in a half-duplex mode sad a transistor control terminal (e.g. gate) of the amplifier is biased at a first bias voltage during , transmit intervals of the half-duplex mode. The control terminal is biased at a second bias voltage differ from the, first bias voltage during receive intervals. The second bias voltage is sufficient to reduce idle currents in the amplifier during the receive intervals thereby improving thermal efficiency , of the amplifier. Also diseased is a base …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 28, 1999 and granted February 12, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 28, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 28, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
