Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method of sensitizing and of forming an emulsion explosive composition comprises forming a fuel phase comprising an organic liquid fuel an emulsifier and unexpended organic microspheres with such fuel phase being at a temperature below the expansion temperature of the organic microspheres; forming an inorganic oxidizer salt solution at an elevated temperature above the expansion temperature of the organic microspheres; and mixing together the fuel phase and the oxidizer solution with sufficient shear to form a water-in-oil emulsion and to allow the elevated temperature of the oxidizer solution to expand the organic microspheres and thereby lower the density and increase the sensitivity of …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 28, 1999 and granted May 27, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 28, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 28, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
