A mixed hydrocarbon stream (1) is hydrotreated to remove olefins and fractionated to separate C9+ heavies (3) in a distillation column reactor (10) and the C8 and lighter materials (6) are fed to selective adsorption units (20, 20') where the para-xylene (4, 4') is removed. The para-xylene depleted raffinate (9) therefrom may be subjected to an isomerization zone (30) to form additional para-xylene. The effluent (14 15) from the isomerization zone (30) , can be fed to the distillation column reactor (10) for hydrogenation of any olefin formed during the isomerization or directly to the adsorption unit (20 20').

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 29, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 29, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 29, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
