Abstract From the Canadian patent

Amine hydrofluorides of the general formula (I): R-N(CH2CH2OH)2 ~ HF (I), in which R is a straight-chain hydrocarbon residue having 10 to 20 carbon atoms, exhibit antibacterial and caries-prophylactic action. They can be prepared in a higher purity than other, already known amine hydrofluorides such as, for example, olaflur. Amine hydrofluorides of the formula (I) or mixtures of two or more thereof can be formulated as oral hygiene compositions.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 17, 1997 and granted November 4, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 17, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 17, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
