Abstract From the Canadian patent

A system for multi-carrier transmission is provided which can secure transmission, capacity under a noise environment whose noise changes cyclically. A mapping section in an, ATU-C (ADSL transceiver unit central office end) memorizes: the bit allocation allocated to, each carrier and transmission power allocation used for each carrier during a period in which, the noise generated at the data transmission to a downstream direction is large; and the bit, allocation allocated to each carrier and transmission power allocation used for each carrier, during a period in which the noise generated at the data transmission to an upstream direction, is large. A demapping section in an ATU-R …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 4, 1999 and granted September 9, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 4, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 4, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
