An exemplary fiber optic cable (10) includes optical fibers (11-15) having selectors therein for selecting wavelengths in a premises interconnect system (100). The wavelength selecting function of fibers (11-15) of fiber optic cable 10 may be used to demultiplex a multi-wavelength signal (.lambda.1-.lambda.6). Jumper cables (40) having optical fibers with selectors therein may be used to demultiplex a multi-wavelength signal (.lambda.1-.lambda.6) for supplying distinct wavelengths, to office units (41-46). Fiber optic cables (10,40) obviate the need for demultiplexer modules thereby saving space and, reducing equipment costs and insertion losses. The sections of the optical fibers …

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 27, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 27, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 27, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
