Material such as polypropylene, polyester or nylon with high oxygen barrier , properties is prepared by evaporating polyfunctional acrylate monomer with flash evaporators (43, 47, 49) and condensing the acrylate as a monomer film or by roll coating acrylate monomers onto a plastic sheet (38) in a vacuum chamber (36), using reels (37, 41). Acrylate is polymerized by irradiation by ultraviolet or electron beam (44, 48, 51 53). A layer of metal or oxide , oxygen barrier material is vapor deposited (46) over the first layer of crosslinked acrylate. An acrylate layer is applied over the metal layer. Adhesion of the acrylate layer on the plastic sheet is enhanced by reactive plasma …

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 31, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 31, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 31, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
