Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a method for treating lactams directly derived from the synthesis process avoiding as far as possible the formation of oligomers. More precisely it concerns a method for treating a lactam from a reaction flux derived from aromatising hydrolysis of an aminonitrile characterised in that the reaction flux coming out of a hydrolysis reactor is cooled in a time interval of not more than 1 hour at a temperature not more than 150 DEG C before its fractionation.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 23, 1997 and granted July 8, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 23, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 23, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
