A method and apparatus for estimating the parameters of a wireless communication system which includes at least one base station and at least one remote terminal, each of the base stations having m antenna elements (101) the parameters being one or more of: the time alignment; the frequency offset; and the weight vector for spatial processing. At any stage some of the , parameters may already be estimated. A signal of known characteristics is transmitted and received as m received signals (103) at the antenna elements (101). A cost function that is related to the at least one or more parameters of the second set is determined using a copy signal determined from samples of the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 10, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 10, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 10, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
