A static piston with a circular opening in its center solidly attached to the cylinder head, provided with passages for gas and lubricants, is surrounded by a larger diameter double-walled moving cylinder whose, smaller, inner wall reaches down through the circular opening of the said piston to connect with a valve stem and its lock, which when pulled down pulls the, said moving cylinder against the inside gas pressure to open the valve - while the said gas pressure lifts the assembly to close it.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 18, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 18, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 18, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
