A safety latch assembly for remotely actuating the safety latch of a hoist top hook or hoist bottom hook is disclosed. The latch assembly comprises a strap attached to a spring biased safety latch associated with a hook which when the strap is pulled by the user the strap locks the latch open by means of the strap binding on a buckle. The safety latch is then unlocked from the open position and released back to the closed position by a single flick or lift of the buckle tab which unbinds the strap from the buckle and with the force of the spring automatically returns the latch to the closed position.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 18, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 18, 2019.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 18, 2021.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
