Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method sealing high speed rotary applications. Firstly mount a first sealing ring having a plurality of flow passages onto a stationary member. Each of the plurality of flow passages has a discharge end positioned in a first sealing surface. Secondly, mount a second sealing ring onto a rotational member adapted to rotate at high speed. The first sealing ring and the second sealing ring are positioned in face to face relation with a gap between the first sealing surface and a second sealing surface. Thirdly, pump a liquid through the plurality of flow passages at a pressure sufficient to preclude the passage of contaminants through the gap.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 24, 1999. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 24, 2019.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 24, 2021.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
