This invention is directed to bicyclic pyrimidine derivatives which are useful as anti-coagulants, of formulae (I) and (II) wherein A is -O-, -N(R5)-, or -, S(O)n- (where n is 0 1 or 2); Z1 and Z2 are independently -O- -N(R5)- or -, OCH2-. This invention is also directed to pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds of the invention and methods of using the compounds , to treat disease-states characterized by thrombotic activity.
