The procedure includes the suspension of freshly collected milk in acetone or ethanol, then filtration under reduced pressure or centrifugation with or without an, inert gas atmosphere. The process allows preservation of enzymatic activity of milk and presumably immunoglobulin properties and native structure of lipids. Acetone and ethanol have bactericidal and viricidal effects (Goodman et al. 1980) that provide the advantages of pasteurization while keeping the properties, of raw milk. Traces of acetone and ethanol are removed by ventilation with air or, an inert gas.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 27, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 27, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 27, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
