Abstract From the Canadian patent

An air driven diaphragm pump having two opposed pumping cavities (26). A center section assembly (104) between the pumping cavities includes a cylinder (108) and a power amplifier piston (124). The power amplifier piston as well as the diaphragms (88) are coupled with a common control shaft (116). A valve assembly (138, 144) is arranged with a manifold (162) to receive pressurized air and distribute that air in alternating fashion to the sides of the power amplifier piston as well as to each of the diaphragms. By directing pressure to a side of the power amplifier piston facing the same direction as the diaphragm receiving pressure, an amplified pressure on a pump chamber is …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 1, 1997 and granted April 16, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 1, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 1, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
