To adjust and adapt the directional diagram of a group antenna (antenna elements 1 to M) a decision feedback process is used in the first instance which subsequently is shut down for the detection of the subscriber data while the sum of the weighted signals of the individual antennae is directly passed on to a MLSE unit (maximum likelihood sequence estimator) (200). The decision feedback structure (100) can, for the purpose of continuous adaptation of the weighting factors (W11 to WMR) remain permanently switched on while , concurrently the MLSE unit (200) is detecting the subscriber data.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 20, 1997 and granted November 25, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 20, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 20, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
