Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and composition are described for preventing irreversible aggregation of viable microorganisms which exhibit aggregative activity upon drying. The method comprises dispersing the microorganisms in an aqueous polymer solution containing a water-soluble or water-dispersable low molecular weight polymer such that the polymer solution inhibits direct surface contact between the individual microorganisms. The polymer solution containing the dispersed microorganisms is then dried to form a dry continuous polymer matrix containing the dispersed microorganisms. This dry continuous polymer matrix is adapted to substantially totally dissolved within five minutes in cold or room temperature …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 24, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 24, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 24, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
