An automatic terminal for dispensing and recording digital data on compact disk or cassette. Through its internal database the terminal can record on-site a product selected by the user. The user selects a product using the terminal's touch screen; the terminal retrieves from its database the data on the product selected and records it permanently on a compact disk or blank cassette. The recorded disk is then given to the client by the dispenser holder. Each terminal is linked by modem to a product management server. The server can be used to add products to a terminal and to update it.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 23, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 23, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 23, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
