Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method for controlling output of an X-ray source to optimize X-ray energy arriving at an associated X-ray receptor during linear tomographic examination. The method comprises the steps of selecting tomographic sweep parameters (501, 502), predicting a set of X-ray source control parameters based, at least in part, upon the selected tomographic sweep parameters (503 504, 505), and controlling X-ray source output in accordance with the set of Xray source control parameters to optimize X-ray energy arriving at the associated X-ray receptor (508). Apparatus for controlling output of an X-ray source is also disclosed.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 14, 1997 and granted March 26, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 14, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 14, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
