A cookware cover comprises a light-transmitting cover member and a heat-resistant rim which may be removably connected to the cover member. The heat-resistant rim insulates the cover member from cookware during use to prevent heat conducted through the cookware from adversely affecting the cover member. Alternatively the cookware cover may comprise at least two light-transmitting cover members connected such that an air pocket extends therebetween.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 14, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 14, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 14, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
