In a video noise reducer, the problem of noise at the edges of moving objects is dealt with by the introduction - into those regions - of spatial noise reduction. An adaptive low pass filter works especially well for spatial noise reduction, with adaption by reference to a dynamic noise measurement. Also where pixel information is recursively filtered with recursion being disabled , at a disjuncture (caused by motion panning, shot-change or otherwise), recursively filtered pixel information prior to a disjuncture continues to be output until pixel information following the disjuncture has been recursively filtered to an appropriate degree of noise reduction.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 14, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 14, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 14, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
