The membrane (25) is held between a circumferential ring (17) on the cap skirt (12) and an end portion (23) of an annular sealing member (20) the end portion (23) being in , a radial plane of the skirt. The member (20) resiliently engages the rim of the jar for resealing after the membrane is broken. The need for a weak adhesive to adhere the membrane in the cap is avoided.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 12, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 12, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 12, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
