Abstract From the Canadian patent

An intensity equalizing element for placement between a number of individual fluorescent tubes (20) in a light panel (30) and the panel image display surface (16). The element includes a like number of curved surfaces (36) in axial alignment with the individual tubes to reduce variation in observed intensity due to tube spacing. Each curved surface is provided with a nonuniform opaque dot pattern thereon to reduce variation in the intensity of light at the panel display surface and enhance uniformity of light intensity throughout an overlying image display.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 7, 1997 and granted July 2, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 7, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 7, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
