Abstract From the Canadian patent

A multi-position, multi-directional switch mechanism that provides switch actuation in multiple directions using opposing detent mechanisms (32 and 42). The multi-position, multi-directional switch mechanism has a sleeve (30) that pivots within a base (12) and an operator (70) that pivots within the sleeve (30). Each of the pivoting members (30 and 70) has a detent mechanism (32 and 42) to maintain the pivotal members (30 and 70) in a selected position. The spring loaded detents (36 and 46) of the detent mechanisms (32 and 42) are linearly opposing. The resulting multi-position multi-directional switch , mechanism achieves better functionality with fewer parts.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 14, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 14, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 14, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
