The present invention relates generally to an apparatus and method for measuringnuclear magnetic resonance properties of an earth formation traversed by a borehole by generating gradient-echoes. The measurement can be made while drilling or using a wireline tool. The apparatus applies a static magnetic field B a, in a volume of the formation, which polarizes the nuclei of hydrogenous connate fluids within the formation. The apparatus applies a second magnetic field B b, in a volume of the formation. The magnetic fields B a and B b are substantially orthogonal in the volume of the formation. A change in the polarity of the magnetic field, B b reverses the direction of precession of the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 28, 1998 and granted July 24, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 28, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 28, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
