Radio ports (RPs) in an unlicensed personal communications system adaptively autonomously set their interference threshold and/or transmission power levels. This may be done by the RP measuring the signal level on each of the available channels and then setting the interference threshold and/or power level according to these measurements. In a preferred method (600) the , interference threshold is determined by measuring the signal level on each channel (604), ranking the channels in order of measured signal level and , using these rankings to determined the threshold (606). The transmission power level may be set with reference to the adaptive interference threshold level. This level …

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 27, 1996 and granted August 7, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 27, 2016.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 27, 2018.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
