Abstract From the Canadian patent

Two approaches are provided for achieving an optical amplifier system capable of producing high peak power, high energy pulse outputs while suppressing scattering noise. The first approach relates to an optical amplifier system which has at least one laser diode pulsed or cw pumped double clad fiber amplifier utilized for receiving a high frequency modulated injected signal pulse of short duration from the laser diode via the fiber core, for , amplification by coupling pump light into the inner cladding of the fiber. The average signal power is sufficient to saturate the gain of the fiber so as to minimize significant onset and buildup of forward and backward scattering noise. The …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 10, 1997 and granted December 11, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 10, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 10, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
