Abstract From the Canadian patent

In order to improve the measuring accuracy of a liquid level (H) in a container (2) from an echo time measurement of ultrasonic pulses and a mean sound velocity (.dottedcircle.) it is, provided to extrapolate the mean sound velocity (.dottedcircle.) from at least two reference sound velocities in the liquid (90). It is possible in this way to achieve a measuring accuracy of less than a millimetre independently of the liquid level (H). Specified for carrying out the method is a device (1) having a main measuring path, at least one device for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic pulses, at least two reference paths for determining sound velocities, and having a computer unit (50) the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 17, 1996 and granted September 17, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 17, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 17, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
