A diversity receiver receives a diverse beam signal from the diverse beam(s), which is compared with a beam signal received from a main uplink beam, and the main beam signal from the main beam or a diverse beam, signal from the diversity antenna is selected depending on the comparative, signal to noise ratio and signal strength of the main beam signal and diversity beam signal.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 4, 1998 and granted April 23, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 4, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 4, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
