Abstract From the Canadian patent

Increased recovery of propane, butane and other heavier components found in a natural gas stream is achieved by installing an absorber upstream from an expander and a separator. The separator is downstream from the expander and returns the liquid stream generated by the separator back to the absorber. Additionally, the recovery of propane, butane and other heavier components is enhanced by combining the upper gas stream from a distillation column with the upper gas stream from the absorber prior to injecting this combination into the separator. Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 1, 1996 and granted August 21, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 1, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 1, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
