Abstract From the Canadian patent

A current limiter composed of a PCT element the resistance of which is abruptly increased by rise of temperature above a resistance transition temperature and a pair of electrode plates secured to opposite surfaces of the PTC element, wherein the PTC element is formed thinner at its outer peripheral portion than at its central portion so that the specific resistance of the central portion becomes smaller than that of the outer peripheral portion.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 26, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 26, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 26, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
