Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention provides a novel catalase which is cloned from Bacillus theremoglucosidasius. The invention further provides a process for preparing catalase in high yield, which comprises constructing expression vectors and transformant cells with catalase genes cloned from microorganisms using genetic engineering technology, and obtaining the expression product. The invention also provides a novel recombinant plasmid and a novel transformant cell constructed in the process. In addition the invention provides a composition for decomposing hydrogen peroxide contained in the residual disinfectant on contact lenses which, comprising the novel catalase of the invention.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 25, 1998 and granted August 20, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 25, 2018.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 25, 2020.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
