A water heater including a body and a fuel burner housed within the body at the lower end thereof and a stand upon which the body is supported spaced from the floor. The stand forms a combustion air chamber between the body and the floor. An inlet duct extends upwardly from the combustion air chamber and provides fluid communication between the combustion air chamber and the ambient air from a predetermined height above the combustion air chamber. Alternatively a removable shroud may be employed, which includes an adjustable band adapted to extend substantially about the body of the water heater and between the floor and the body to form a combustion air chamber therebetween.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 20, 1998. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 20, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 20, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
