A method for producing cellulose beads which are high in sphericity and narrow in bead size distribution. Cellulose beads are produced by supplying a cellulose solution into a rotating vessel that are rotated at high speed by a rotary shaft and have outlets such as small holes and nozzles, flying droplets formed under a centrifugal acceleration of 10 to 1000 G through the outlets that have a diameter of 0.1 to 5.0 mm and, capturing the droplets with a coagulating solution to coagulate the droplets.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 24, 1997 and granted July 9, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 24, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 24, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
