Abstract From the Canadian patent

A system and method that monitors four wheel sensors of an automotive vehicle to determined changes in the effective rolling radii of any wheel and a low pressure tire condition. Certain vehicle operating conditions, such as excessive or very low speeds braking, and turns, are determined from the sensor outputs and are used to prevent erroneous detection of changes in effective rolling radii. Data from the sensors that is determined to be acceptable is accumulated over time as displacement values for each wheel. When the displacement values exceed a predetermined value, a metric function is used to compare differences detected in accumulated displacement values for the front pair of wheels …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 22, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 22, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 22, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
