The present invention relates to the use of cycloolefin copolymers for producingfilms. For cycloolefin copolymers conditions have been found under which biaxially oriented films without heat-sealable layers can be firmly bonded with one another. The film temperatures found for this were above the glass transition temperature by from 5 to 70°C, and the times found were from 0.1 sec to 10 sec. As a result of the invention, layers made from cycloolefin copolymer and having a thickness ~ 50 µm have been used for the first time as heat-sealable layers replacing cycloolefincopolymers having higher glass transition temperatures.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 18, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 18, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 18, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
