Abstract From the Canadian patent

A filter element useful for filtering intake air for internal combustion enginesincludes a first filter media separated by an air space from a second filter media. The second filter media has a greater air permeability than the first filter media but is, electrostically charged. As a result of this arrangement the capacity of the filter, element is enhanced because large particles are trapped by the first filter media and smaller particles are trapped by the second filter media. As a result the filter element, has a longer life because for a given contaminant condition of an air stream unacceptable clogging of the filter element takes longer.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 10, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 10, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 10, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
