A system for surgically stabilising the backbone is disclosed. The system is useful for preventing slippage of the joining bars on the vertebral attachment means. For this purpose the joining bars are provided at predetermined intervals with spherical bulges having a greater diameter than said bar which is thus somewhat dumbbell-shaped and has a length adapted to the morphological features of the spine.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 24, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 24, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 24, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
