A system and method for burst-broadcasting data from a master device (60) to multiple target devices (70) over a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus (50). Initially, an initiator device (60) in the system captures control of the bus (50). The initiator device (60) inspects an internal coherency flag. The initiator device (60) releases the bus (50) if its coherency flag is set (if the initiator device is not in the middle of a previously commenced burst-broadcast, in which case it keeps control of the bus). Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 7, 1996 and granted October 24, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 7, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 7, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
