Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention relates to novel process for the preparation of glycoproteins by mammalian cell culture wherein the sialic acid content of the glycoprotein produced is controlled over a broad range of values by manipulating the cell culture environment. The invention provides for processes in which the sialic acid content of the glycoprotein is modified by changes in cell culture parameters which affect cell specific productivity. Preferred embodiments of the invention include cell culture processes in the osmolality of the cell culture is controlled as well as the concentration of a transcription enhancer during the production phase of the cell culture. The invention further …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 6, 1996 and granted November 12, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 6, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 6, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
