A method for determining the reliability of time processed seismic reflection data near a significant velocity differential overhang includes displaying the seismic reflection data as a seismic section showing impedance differential interfaces (12). The position of an edge of the velocity differential overhang is located and acoustic velocity values are interpreted (14). A set of curves representing boundaries of reliability for predetermined dip values is determined (16). The set of curves representing boundaries of reliability may be displayed (18). The display of the set of curves representing boundaries of reliability may be overlaid (20) on the seismic section representing the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 3, 1996 and granted October 17, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 3, 2016.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 3, 2018.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
