Disclosed is a process for preparing a fluoroalkyl-containing organosilicon compound by reacting a fluorine-containing olefin with an organosilicon compound which contains at least one H-Si group, in the presence of a Pt(O) complex catalyst and, when required, recovering the fluoroalkyl-containing organosilicon compound from the reaction mixture. By the use of the Pt(O) complex catalyst the reaction may be carried out under mild conditions with a high yield and high selectivity and with virtually no isomerization. The resulting organosilicon compound may be used as a textile auxiliary or an architectural preservative or for modifying surface properties.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 24, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 24, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 24, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
