Abstract From the Canadian patent

An advanced intelligent network trigger item and method provides a way to prevent a query being sent to a service control point on the receipt of predetermined digits. The trigger item instance called and escape item, includes an action escape, that is predefined to stop further activity based on the received digits. The benefits of having negative logic available in the form of an escape item may simplify certain service scenarios. For instance it will take many fewer definitions to turn on or off a small subset of a digit range using escape items than just with trigger items.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 23, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 23, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 23, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
