Abstract From the Canadian patent

To effect selective extraction and insertion of wavelength multiplexed channels (El Eq, Ep), without interjecting active elements in the main transmission path the device comprises extraction and insertion modules (Mlk Mqk, Mpk), each comprising a rejection filter (Flk Fqk, Fpk) with two opposed ports. An optical switch (K) with an extraction output (S) comprises extraction inputs (Qpk Qpj) and insertion outputs (Tpk, Tqk) associated with the modules and coupled respectively to the opposed ports of the filters (Flk Fqk, Fpk). For each module (Mpk), the switch (K) is designed to couple selectively one of its extraction inputs (Qpk) to one of its insertion outputs (Tpk) and/or to the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 23, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 23, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 23, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
