Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention features a method of processing cryopreserved cells by thawing and equilibrating the cells at warm temperatures (e.g. between 30°C and 43°C). Either the cell suspension in the cryoprotective medium is thawed to a temperature between 35°C and 43°C or the cryoprotective medium is equilibrated with a culture medium at a temperature between 30°C and 43°C or both, steps are carried out at the warm temperatures. By thawing and equilibrating the cryopreserved cells at warm temperatures, the viability, (especially after 3 hours of culture), and metabolic activity (i.e. diazepam metabolism) of the cells can be improved over traditional cold cell processing (i.e. at temperatures of …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 22, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 22, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 22, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
